Study on the extraction process and seasonal variation of Toosendanin in Chinaberry (Melia azedarach L.)
Toosendanin as one kind of plant pesticide exists in the fruits, barks, and leaves of Melia azedarach L. (chinaberry tree). To obtain toosendanin, the sample was defatted with petroleum ether, extracted with ethanol; then the solution was concentrated, and extracted with ethyl acetate. Uniform design and regression analysis were employed to establish a model of extraction and optimize the proce...
متن کاملOptimization of callus induction and cell suspension cultures of Catharanthus roseus
Background & Aim: Investigation of suspension cell culture and callus production in Catharanthus roseus. Catharanthus roseus is an herbaceous perennial plant belongs to the family Apocynaceae. C. roseus is important as commercial medicinal plant because of its alkaloidal content. Whole plant contains about 130 alkaloids those are classified as vinca alkaloids...

متن کاملLimonoids from Melia azedarach Fruits as Inhibitors of Flaviviruses and Mycobacterium tubercolosis
The biological diversity of nature is the source of a wide range of bioactive molecules. The natural products, either as pure compounds or as standardized plant extracts, have been a successful source of inspiration for the development of new drugs. The present work was carried out to investigate the cytotoxicity, antiviral and antimycobacterial activity of the methanol extract and of four iden...
متن کاملAn antiviral meliacarpin from leaves of Melia azedarach L.
Bioassay guided purification of the ethyl acetate extract of leaves of Melia azedarach led to the isolation of the limonoid 1-cinnamoyl-3,11-dihydroxymeliacarpin, which showed IC50 values of 6 microM and 20 microM for vesicular stomatitis (VSV) and herpes simplex (HSV-1) viruses, respectively. Its structure was established by spectroscopic methods.
